About the McDonald Centre:

Based on the Shore Road in Belfast, the McDonald Centre was conceived as a community hub offering local services, second-chance education, sports, recreation and social outlets – all focused on improving the life chances, skills and opportunities for the local community. It describes itself as a fresh start, a new initiative, a centre focused on self-improvement and boosting community confidence. It is a centre that will offer a range of services and opportunities to improve community cohesion and to put people first, to help people achieve their goals in work and in life. It will be aimed firmly at tackling under-achievement and promoting self-improvement.

It is undergoing its own renewal at the moment, one that begins with the appointment of a new Chair who will oversee the reconstitution and recruitment of new board members.

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for candidates who have a social heart and a business head, who will have an inherent appreciation of the strengths and capacity of the community served by the McDonald Centre, as well as that community’s economic and social challenges, and who will keep a laser-focus on delivering the social impact needed to address those challenges.

If you have a head for governance and social enterprise, for supporting community development, if you know how to marshal a consensus on major strategic decisions, we’d love to hear from you.
